As I said in the previous post, I am not a DBA. All my knowledge of SQL and MSSMS was gained through the “if I don’t figure this out I’m going to be fired” school of training. Over the past few years I’ve learned a lot, I think. But make no mistake – I do not want to learn any more. Database administration is not where I want to be.
So if it seems that I make an inordinate number of posts regarding SQL on this blog, the reason is 2-fold:
- My small victories in the world of tables and views have been hard-won. If I can remember how I beat the SQL monster the last time, I stand a better chance of beating it the next time.
- Know your enemy. The sooner you recognize that festering sore as a poorly formed WHERE clause, the faster you can inoculate yourself against the creeping infection that leads to DBA-zombification.
That said, my next post will be about… yup… SQL.
